Turn temperature control to OFF, unplug keg cooler and remove contents. Wash inside surfaces with warm water and baking soda solution. Solution should be 2 Tbs. baking soda to 1 qt. water. Wash shelves and stand with mild detergent solution. Wipe down any electrical controls with dry cloth. Wash outside cabinet with warm water and mild liquid detergent. Rinse well and wipe dry with clean soft cloth. Beer lines have to be cleaned periodically because of a crystallized sugar buildup which forms on the fittings, lines and taps. If the buildup is not completely removed in a cleaning process, then it will leave an unsanitary surface that can harbor microorganisms and cause an undesirable flavor and/or cause the beer to go flat. Sufficient buildup will also lead to dispensing problems ranging from foamy beer to flat beer, regardless of carbonation levels or quality or age of the beer in the keg. Scheduled line and faucet cleaning eliminates the buildup, protecting the integrity of the product and condition of the dispensing system and seals. The beer line should be cleaned and rinsed with hot water approximately once every three weeks or every other keg – whichever comes first. The faucet should be cleaned with hot water on a weekly basis or prior to every use if not used on a regular basis. If faucet handle becomes stuck or hard to move, usually this indicates it requires cleaning. DO NOT apply force to move the handle in this situation, as this can lead to damaging the handle or faucet and will not be covered by the warranty.
